Bio
Hmm, really ought to update this.

My name is James and my rather grandiose job title is web journalist for the University of Manchester. Conjures up all kinds of images, doesn't it? The reality involves sitting in an office overlooking the Mancunian Way, drinking endless cups of tea and dreaming of writing for a glossy men's style magazine instead of corporate information for a university I wasn't quite academic enough to attend.

It's because of my love for all things GQ, Arena or Esquire that my journal attracted a lot of anonymous comments along the lines of various different and expletive-laden ways of calling me a smug bastard. Still, as dear old Oscar said, the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

I'm gradually forcing myself away from my roots in Bury, a town that I don't hold all that much affection for apart from the odd pub and my erstwhile - but no longer totally passionate - support for its once famous football club. My first move away was to Preston and my next was to Stockport so it's fair to say that the North West of England is pretty much a constant I can't quite shake.

I talk bollocks all the time. You've probably gathered that though. The only thing I took from my short burst of radio journalism training at university was that we talk at a speech rate of three words a second and that first impressions are made within three seconds of meeting someone. Ergo, if you've read this far then you're here for the duration. Welcome to my life.
